CEPS Advertising Policy

At Cambridge Educational Psychology Services (CEPS), we are committed to advertising practices that uphold the highest ethical and professional standards in line with the New Zealand Psychologists Board’s Statement on Advertising (2024) and the New Zealand Psychological Society’s Code of Ethics (Principle 3: Integrity).

Our commitments:

  1. Truthful and Balanced Representations
We will present accurate, balanced, and honest information about our services without exaggeration or misleading claims. Information will be based on the psychologist’s actual scope of practice and competencies.

  2. Evidence-Based Information
All information presented will be grounded in valid, peer-reviewed, and current research or well-established clinical practice. We will avoid presenting speculative, untested, or controversial interventions as fact.

  3. Clear and Accessible Information
We will present information in plain, accessible language so that it can be easily understood by the general public, parents, and young people alike.

  4. No Testimonials
In alignment with the NZ Psychologists Board’s position, we will not use testimonials (defined as statements of personal endorsement or benefit received). Testimonials can create unrealistic expectations and place undue pressure on individuals seeking psychological services.

  5. No Fear-Based Messaging
CEPS will not use advertising that induces fear, shame, or anxiety about other services or about not using psychological services. Our communication will remain positive, informative, and empowering.

  6. Respect for Privacy and Autonomy
We will not advertise by directly approaching individuals through unsolicited visits, emails, or phone calls. Referrals and inquiries will always be initiated by the client or their authorised representatives.

  7. Respect for Professional Boundaries
Our advertising will not blur the line between professional education and solicitation. Content on our website or social media will be educational in tone and consistent with professional boundaries, avoiding sensationalism or sales tactics.

  8. Transparency of Qualifications and Fees
We will clearly state the qualifications, registration status, and areas of competence of psychologists working with CEPS. Fee structures will be transparent and readily available upon inquiry.

By following these principles, CEPS ensures our communication reflects integrity, respect, and professionalism — supporting our mission to provide trusted psychological services to children, young people, and families across the Waikato region.
